Da Nang has regular tech and digital nomad meetups organized via Facebook groups ("Da Nang Digital Nomads", "Da Nang Tech Talks"). Events include weekly coffee meetups, skill-sharing sessions, and hiking/sports groups.
Connectivity Quality
Video calls (Zoom, Google Meet, Skype) work reliably from coworking spaces, most cafes, and home fiber connections in Da Nang and Hoi An. VPN usage is legal but speeds can be slightly reduced. Some buildings have thick concrete walls that weaken 4G signal.
Coworking
Hoi An has fewer coworking options than Da Nang. Notable spaces: The Deck Hoi An (Cam Chau, riverside setting, day pass ~150k VND) and Hoi An Hub (Cam Nam island, monthly ~2M VND). Most digital nomads in Hoi An work from cafe-hotels.
Coworking Spaces
The Workshop Da Nang at 02 An Thuong 2 is a premium coworking and cafe hybrid. Features: specialty coffee, fast internet, meeting rooms, and community events. Popular with the creative/design crowd. Drop-in rate: ~120k VND.
DNC Coworking at 27 An Thuong 3 offers 24/7 access, high-speed internet, printing, meeting rooms, and a rooftop area. Monthly membership: ~1.5-2.5M VND. Also operates a coliving space in the same building.
Home Internet
Fiber internet is available in most of Da Nang and Hoi An from providers Viettel, VNPT, and FPT. Typical speeds: 100-300 Mbps download, 50-100 Mbps upload. Monthly cost: 200k-500k VND. Installation typically takes 1-3 days.
Mobile Internet
4G/LTE coverage in Da Nang and Hoi An is excellent. A mobile hotspot or phone tethering via Viettel/Vinaphone/Mobifone provides reliable backup internet (10-50 Mbps). Data-only SIM plans: 70k-200k VND/month for 2-5GB/day.
Time Zone
Vietnam is on Indochina Time (ICT, UTC+7), no daylight saving time. Working hours overlap well with Asia (morning overlap with Europe until ~2-3PM Vietnam time) and late-afternoon overlap with US West Coast.
Work-friendly Cafes
Cafes in An Thuong and along the beachfront are generally nomad-friendly. Popular work-cafes: Cong Caphe (multiple locations), The Cups Coffee, 43 Factory Coffee, Sok Cafe. Most have 20-50 Mbps WiFi and power outlets. Ordering periodically is expected.
